DESCRIPTION

A Survey Transit level is a device that is used to measure the relative horizontal and vertical angles from one object or place to another object or place. A Survey Transit level enables you to find the elevation of points at large distances from one another. This instrument is a basic surveying tool and has been used continuously since its invention in 1831.

Such instruments are essential for establishing elevations on just about any job site dealing with distances of any more than about 12 feet. One application of transit levels that is vitally important is laying out the foundation of a building. This task requires accuracy because if the foundation of a building is off a little, every stage of the job afterward will pose difficulties

The basic method of using a transit remains constant regardless of the make or model of the transit being used. To use properly, mount the transit on a tripod and level. Transits have a bubble level and three screws for leveling the instrument.

The L6-20 Meridian Level is versatile. It is ideal for leveling foundations, driveways, patios, floors, sills, for grading streets, curbs, ditches; for alinging fences; or any other light construction job.
